the peace of the moment,
we have earned a space
on the earth,
in the firmament,
and in this place,
a house of peace

Español
En un día de aparente contradicción entre la algarabía turística y la esencia poética del lugar, el autor escribió este poema como una defensa del espíritu de paz y contemplación que emana de la Casa Museo de Pablo Neruda en Isla Negra.
El gesto de regalar el poema enmarcado a la entonces directora María Eugenia Zamudio fue recibido con gratitud y respeto, al punto que ella decidió exhibirlo en el museo. Sin embargo, tras un cambio de administración, el nuevo director optó por retirar el cuadro sin explicación, devolviéndolo al autor. Este hecho revela cómo la institucionalidad puede o no estar alineada con la sensibilidad artística, y cómo los espacios de cultura y memoria deben proteger su esencia más allá de los cambios administrativos.

On a day when the lively voices of tourists clashed with the poetic essence of Isla Negra, the author wrote this poem as a defense of the spirit of peace and reflection embodied by Pablo Neruda's House Museum. His gift of the framed poem to the director, María Eugenia Zamudio, was honored and displayed.
However, with the arrival of a new director, the piece was quietly removed and returned. This event highlights how institutions may or may not uphold artistic sensibilities, and how cultural spaces must safeguard their soul beyond bureaucratic shifts.
